Q: Are your staff friendly and compassionate?

A: Absolutely. Vetcare is known as the friendly vets.

A: Do you have qualified staff caring for my pet?

A: Yes, our staff are qualified vets, vet nurses and vet techs. Junior staff are partnered with more senior staff to ensure a consistently high level of care. Dr Heidi personally oversees the patient care protocols in each clinic.

Q: Are your vets experienced?

A: Yes, our senior vets have more than twenty years experience. Our graduate and locum vets work closely with our experienced Vetcare team members to ensure a high level of care for your pet.

Q: Can I schedule a telemedicine appointment instead of a personal visit?

A: Yes, a telemedicine Consult follow up is available at a cost of $63. In some circumstances your vet may still wish to personally examine your pet and schedule a drop off or visit. An additional exam fee will apply.

Q: Can I schedule a home visit?

A: Yes. A home visit will cost $110 plus mileage

Q: If I cancel or alter my appointment within 24 hours will there be a fee?

A: Yes. We are heavily booked during regular hours and require notice to reschedule. We schedule our veterinarians’ roster according to the appointment bookings.

Q: If my pet is booked for a consultation & I forget will I be charged a missed appointment fee?

A: Yes, a fee of $30 will apply.

Q: Is there an after hours callout fee to see a veterinarian ?

A: Yes, our fees vary depending on the duration and complexity of the consultation. After hours fees start at $195.

Q: Are you open on Saturday’s?

Yes. Our normal Saturday hours are Masterton: 9 am to 3 pm and Greytown: 10 am to 4 pm. During Covid we are open 9 am until 3 pm.

Q: Can I message a vet instead of calling if I have an emergency?

A: No, please call the emergency number in cases of genuine veterinary emergency.

Q: Do you have a 24 x 7 emergency vet service?

A: Yes – Please call Masterton (06) 377 7955 or Greytown (06) 304 8037 and press option 1 for an emergency situation.

Q: Can I borrow a cat cage?

A: Yes, we have hire cages available. A bond is taken and returned as well as a small hire fee for the cage.

Q: Do I need to restrain my dog in the clinic?

A: Yes, for safety of all concerned dogs must enter on a leash.

Q: Can I set up a regular weekly or monthly payment onto my account?

A: Yes

Q: Can I pay off my vet bill?

A: Yes, we offer third party payment plans in advance of care. Most applications for credit can be assessed within 30 minutes. 

Q: Do you accept pet insurance and third party payment?

A: Yes

Q: Do you have fully digital radiology?

A: Yes

Q: Do you have an in-house laboratory?

A: Yes

Q: Do you do dog grooming?

A: Yes, a full list of services and fees are available on request. Our groomers are kind and gentle with your pets. They are all pet lovers. 

Q: Can I book a hydrotherapy or rehabilitation session if Vetcare is not my usual vet?

A: Yes

Q: Is there a separate cattery?

A: Yes, cats can be housed away from loud dog noises.

Q: Are rabbits welcome?

A: Yes, Vetcare has a dedicated rabbit ambassador. We are experienced rabbit clinicians and surgeons. Your rabbits are in safe and caring hands.
